R.V. Young: The film is a dramatization of young men and women — the main characters all seem to be in their first year of college, eighteen to nineteen years old — who are morally disoriented because they have been left to their own devices by parents who have neglected their traditional duties and absconded into the realm of their own failures, pleasures, and longings.
